University of Macau
PhD studentship
Macau
Interested in human behavior and culture from cognitive and evolutionary perspectives? Feelling adventurous about your next stops? Come work with me (Kevin Hong)! We are located in the sociology department at the University of Macau, where incoming graduate students may apply for centralized funding of 20,000 MOP (roughly 2,500 USD) per month for up to 4 years. You will not be tied to specific projects and are free to pursue your own interest and develop your own projects. I myself am broadly interested in "irrational" practices such as magic and divination, the evolution of cultural transmission biases, and perception and decision making in uncertainty (https://soc.fss.um.edu.mo/ze-hong/).
You just need to apply through U Macau's regular admission system (https://grs.um.edu.mo/index.php/prospective-students/phd-funding/um-phd-scholarship/) though you are welcome to send me an informal inquiry ([email protected]) and we can discuss your research interest and fit with the program.
Note: if you are an undergraduate student, the deadline for scholarship application is Oct. 16th, 2024. If you already have a master's degree, the deadline is Jan. 8th, 2025, though it is advised that you apply as early as possible.
