Our mission is to advance the research and applications of cultural evolutionary studies. We support all evolutionary approaches to the study of human and nonhuman animal culture.


Membership is open to all who share this as a basic research, teaching, or applied interest. The Cultural Evolution Society is committed to a broad, pluralistic and interdisciplinary perspective, which brings together all researchers applying evolutionary theory to the understanding of cultural inheritance and evolution.



Conference 2018 Website

The CES 2018 Conference website is LIVE. 

This 2nd CES Conference is being held in Tempe, Arizona, USA from October 22-24 2018. Registration, accommodation and abstract submission are all open.


Call for Applications: CES Webmaster

We seek an enthusiastic CES member to take up the role of CES Webmaster. This person would be primarily responsible for maintaining and updating the CES website, including maintaining the list of members/users, updating the website with news items and announcements, monitoring the use of forums, and developing new content of interest to our members and working groups. Prior experience with any CMS and knowledge of HTML would be helpful. The Webmaster will be an ex officio non-voting member of the CES Executive Committee, and be entitled to one year's free membership of CES (or if already a member, then an additional year upon expiry of current membership term).
